The Top Videos From Formnext 2022

admin

Hello 3D printing enthusiasts. Thanks to Formnext’s recent success, we have had a very busy week in additive manufacturing. You don’t have to feel the post-Formnext blues. We have a selection here of our video content. We have something for everyone, from AM Polymers to Markforged, to many innovative startups, to silicon to scanners and software. We hope you enjoy!

Top 1: Desktop Metal, and the Importance Of Binder Jetting

Additive manufacturing users are increasingly using bind jetting as a 3D printing method. Desktop Metal is one of these players and offers many solutions that are based on this technology. It is changing production methods. At this week’s Formnext show, we were able to speak with Jonah Myerberg, the company’s co-founder and CTO, who told us more about the company’s different areas of development and the products on display at their booth. Desktop Metal’s product family now offers 3D technology for metal, polymer, sand, ceramic, composites and wood.

Top 2: AM Polymer Powders

Next, AM Polymers. The German company is known for its high-quality plastic powder solutions. In this video, we chatted with Dr. Holger Ulland, the CEO of the German base, and Timur Ünlü, a co-founder, The range was presented by the company’s representatives, who also discussed the sustainability and economic aspects of the manufacturing process. They showed us models they had printed with the powders and explained their properties. We were also informed about their broad material portfolio and the direction they see AM Polymers going in the future.

Top 3: Shining 3D using Their High Precision Scanner

Shining 3D, a manufacturer of additive manufacturing scanning technology, was at Formnext to show their new scanner the OptimScan. Niels Stenzel from Shining 3D, regional sales manager for the company, said that the OptimScan can do high-quality portable scanning. The scanner can also print at 10 microns or 5 megapixels. Automatic reports can also be created from scans. Niels shares more details about this innovative product in the video.

Top 4: AMT for their Post-Processing Solutions

AMT is next on the materials side. Their digital manufacturing system can be used for high quality post-processing results. We interviewed Joseph Croucher, CEO and Co-founder, and Dr. Konstantin Rybalcenko, head of R&D, to find out more. They explained to us how the Digital Manufacturing System can automate the post-processing process to the benefit for the user. We were also informed about the PostPro Pure solution. This green chemistry produces optimal results in a sustainable manner. The green vapor smoothing technique smoothens surfaces and gives excellent results.

Top 5:  Velo3D’s Metal Powder Bed Technology

Next up, Velo3D. Velo3D, a start-up specializing in metal 3D printing solutions, is exciting. We learn about their Assure software, and the Sapphire XC Printer. The latter is used mainly in the aerospace industry. Velo3D, as the video explains, is important in aerospace because they offer a complete solution to customers that can then produce a certified product in the end. We are eager to see the future of Velo3D.

Top 6 HP

HP is the world’s most well-known printer manufacturer, and their Multi Jet Fusion technology allows for high quality additive production. We are joined by HP as they unveil their new printer series at Formnext: the HP Multi Jet Fusion 55420W. In the video, Ramón Pastor, Global Head and General Manager, 3D Metals and Ayelén Fernández, Product Manager, 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing, talk us through the product. As they demonstrate the high quality of the parts made by the printer, the visuals show how flexible and adaptable the product is. We also learn that HP has many exciting plans in the polymer field.

Top 7: Daily Show #1

Formnext has our daily shows for our final 3. These videos are themed videos that provide informal insight from startups and companies through interviews. We discussed AM solutions for a new digital world in this first video. Our CEO Alex Martel first visited Formlabs, where he chatted with Sean David Doyle, Senior Technical Sales Manager, who discussed Formlabs’ new solutions including SLS and SLA technologies and the industries where these are applied. We then learned more about Markforged’s simulation software. This software is able to streamline the printing process and prevent errors. We had a startup, finally! We spoke to Rivelin Robotics, one of the winner’s of this year’s startup challenge! Their CEO Robert Bush discussed with Alex the company’s hopes to use robotics to autonomize the parts processing.

Top 8: Daily Show #2

Our second daily show! This episode features Madeleine Prior, our English content specialist, talking about 3D printing materials. She first spoke to Karsten Schlichter (Elkem Silicones’ Business Development Manager). He explained the range of silicon materials that Elkem Silicones offers, which can be used for additive manufacturing to create high-quality parts. Stefan Schulze, Director of 3D Printing Materials and Marketing at the company, shared his knowledge about Lehvoss. He spoke about their materials for end use parts. The company offers customized materials that can be tailored to specific industry and customer needs. Lastly, Madeleine chatted with Dominik Zdybal, CEO and Co-founder of Alpha Powders, with whom she discussed the company’s polymer powder solutions which use affordable methods.

Top 9: Daily Show #3

This is our third and final daily program! This video shows 3D printing at different scales, from small to large. Alex Martel, our CEO, was again on the camera. He spoke first with Massivit3D, a company using Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) He spoke to Avi Cohen of the company, and the two discussed Massivit’s important announcement – their new printer, the 10,000G which can print and cast parts simultaneously with epoxy, which can be applied to the automotive and marine sectors, among others. Alex then spoke with Gijs van der Velden, MX3D’s additive manufacturing company that produces metal parts. He shared the company’s growth as well as the metal XL program that can be used for slicing parts to send to the robot. Alex then went over to Photosynthetic, our startup, and spoke with Alexsander Kostenko. He mentioned the Startup Challenge, where Magdalena Kurzyp PhD was the winner. The two discussed then the microscale productions made by Photosynthetic.
