This week was a busy one for the earliest part of this week. Dark Shadows The news that Lara Parker had passed away was shocking to fans of ABC’s gothic soap opera.
The actress known for her role as the ‘witch’ Angelique Bouchard died at the age of 84. Her daughter confirmed her death. Dark Shadows co-star Kathryn Leigh Scott (ex-Josette) via Facebook, and confirmed by Parker’s daughter, Caitlin, who told The Hollywood Reporter She died peacefully in her sleep on October 12th, at her home in Topanga Canyon in California.
Scott shared: “I have sad news . . . My beautiful and beloved friend Lara Parker died on Thursday, October 12th. I’m heartbroken, as all of us are who knew and loved her. We all benefited from her presence in our lives. Lara’s family was her greatest priority, and she wanted to spend these last few days with them. Rest in peace, my cherished friend.”

In a second post, Kathryn expressed: “We met as ‘Josette’ and ‘Angelique’ on Dark Shadows. . . that’s how many knew us, but we knew each other as friends and confidantes. Over the past 50 years, we have shared a love for literature, writing, and acting. As we went about the everyday business of life, our mutual love for literature, writing and acting kept us connected. Our friendship was forged by our complete differences. My thoughts are with her family in this sad time of grief and remembrance.”

In a Dark Shadows 50th anniversary interview, Parker once said of Angelique and Barnabas : “I played her as somebody who was much more of a tragic figure, who was desperately, desperately in love. Her heart was broken. That’s much more sympathetic than just being a mean old witch. I felt that her acts were acts of desperation, not acts of evil.”
Angelique, in the soap’s story arc, would condemn Barnabas to a life as a vampiric vampire. A battle would ensue between them that would last through various time periods.

Parker has appeared in a number of television shows and films. Medical Center, The Rockford Files – Kojak, Police Woman, Kolchak: The night stalker The following are some examples of how to get started: The Incredible Hulk, to name but a few, and appeared in Tim Burton’s 2012 Dark Shadows The remake was later re-teamed with Kathryn Leigh Scott. Dark Shadows Jerry Lacy is an alumnus in films. Doctor Mabuse The sequel will be released in 2013 and 2014 Parker also wrote four novels, based on her role in the soap opera.
Lara is survived by her second husband, Jim Hawkins; children Caitlin, Rick, and Andy; daughters-in-law Miranda and Celia; grandson Wesley; and her dog, Pearl.
