HP Thailand has announced its “Future Ready Strategies” for 2023-24. This is a strategy to help Thailand’s digital sector grow.

The company will also be exploring new business models such as subscriptions for consumers and devices-as-aservice.

Thailand’s personal computers market will grow 7.9%, to 2.2 millions units by 2023. This is according to IDC.

David Tan, vice president and managing director for HP Southeast Asia, said: “HP is pivoting towards being more growth-oriented. Technology can inspire meaningful changes.”

“We are seeing trends in urbanisation. We also see sustainability and digital equity, all of which have been incorporated into our strategy.”

HP’s Future Ready action and vision revolves around the customers. Portfolio, operations, people are its three pillars.

In order to achieve a portfolio that is more growth oriented, it’s important to tailor its offerings according the way people live, play and work.

The people pillar’s goal is to empower staff in order to create a purpose-driven environment.

Mr Tan told us that his company saw a business opportunity for the Thai education sector, given the amount of money the Thai government invests in it. Southeast Asia is seeing a 6% increase in education technology spending.

HP will offer computers to schools in Indonesia on a subscription or rental basis as part of its efforts to promote digital equality, said he.

Mr Tan said that HP’s Wolf endpoint device solutions protect data in hybrid environments and represent another growth segment.

The device as a service model is intended for corporate customers in Thailand. HP created a workforce solution team to work with partners, customers and other HP employees to support the model.

In Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and Thailand, the company has a subscription-based model for instant inks and toners. It is looking at introducing this in Thailand.

Varanit Athijiratroj is the managing director of HP Thailand. She said that Thailand has a large number of young digital workers and a high rate of internet penetration. The government also encourages technology adoption.

In 2022, the country will have a 85% penetration of internet and 12.6 million small and medium enterprises. This represents 71% employment.

In 2022, approximately 57% of Thai companies will be using hybrid work. Thailand is also the second largest gaming market in Southeast Asia.

IDC reports that HP was Thailand’s No. 1 printer and personal computer vendor in terms of unit shipments during the first quarter of 2023.

Sutee Suwongwatthanakun said that the product portfolios of our consumer PCs support both work and play and security by using sustainable design principles, such as computer laptops which use resins made out of recycled cooking oil.
