Uvalde writer Holli Fry will host a joint book-launch party at her home, 146 Briar Crown Road, on Saturday, April 15 to mark the release of the fourth book in her rhyming word series and the audiobook of “Amena’s Quest,” narrated by Jan Elliott.

Elliott, one of the Uvalde Good Eggs and director of many of the plays performed at the Uvalde Grand Opera House, recorded the audio version of the middle-grade, Christian allegory which tells the story of a young girl whose world is rocked by her mother’s sudden, serious illness.

Remembering her great-grandmother’s stories of a king who has the power to heal, the girl sets out to find this king.

“Jan Elliott’s recording is masterfully done with the help of Wade Carpenter.

It features excellent characterizations including unique voices and accents and will be a wonderful addition to your listening library if you are already an audiobook fan,” Fry said.

“For those who haven’t entered the audiobook culture yet, this is a great time to try it out, as you can get a copy of ‘Amena’s Quest’ audiobook for free along with a one-month trial subscription to Audible if you use the QR code provided.”

Fry also released “The Tenth Coin,” based on Luke 15:8-10 and retold for children. This illustrated book was created in memory of the Uvalde community, which suffered great loss during this time.

The launch party for come-and-go is from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Fry will make available all of her published books for a reduced rate. Elliott and Fry will also be there to sign copies.
