Fedrigoni to open an Innovation Centre dedicated to premium papers

The Fedrigoni Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of special papers for luxury packaging and other creative solutions, as well as of premium labels and self-adhesive materials, has chosen to push the research and development accelerator, with the opening, next September, of an “innovation house” for sustainable, recycled and recyclable premium papers and self-adhesive materials.

Verona is home to the largest city in Italy. Area of 3,000 square metresThe Customer Experience Centre, Customer Academy and FedLab incubator will be located at the Customer Academy.

Fedrigoni’s new Research Development & Innovation will be fully operational in the First quarter 2024. The investment, including a portion of public funds through NRRP, will enable centralisation, coordination, and optimization functions that have previously been fragmented throughout Italy and Europe.

Four complementary areas

The Innovation Centre will comprise four areas that are closely related.

First will house the group’s Research, Development & Innovation teamFedrigoni, in partnership with HP Indigo, will be the Italian competence centre for the HP Indigo Digital Press printer. It will also test digital printing.

The second area is dedicated to FedLab, the incubator- accelerator of new ideas to be transformed into highly sustainable products, services or processes, also through an ecosystem of best-in-class actors, partnerships and collaborations already in place with Italian and foreign universities and research centres such as the Universities of Milan, Naples and Pisa, the International Paper Engineering School of Grenoble Inp-Pagora and the Pulp and Paper Research & Technical Centre (CTP), companies and start-ups that will be able to work together in co-working spaces.

The third area will be the host of Customer Experience CentreFedrigoni offers different interactive and immersive experience paths. It is aimed at meeting the needs of visitors, including brands, investors, graphic designers, printers, and converters. Institutions, graphics and communication students and school groups will also be able design and configure an individualized product in real-time. By using a crowdsourcing tool, users can also add their own insights and ideas to the creation of new solutions.

Lastly, this fourth area will be the host of the Customer AcademyThis is a centre of learning and training for all members of the Fedrigoni family – employees, customers, partners, and students.
