Siraya Tech Fast offers the best balance between price per gallon, and functionality. Some resins are less expensive, but they tend to stick or split if not handled properly. Fast is my favorite resin and has never let me down in terms of reliability.

Is 3D printing resin dangerous?
Answer in a nutshell: Yes. Long answer: Yes, but if you’re careful it’s fine. You can get chemical burns from touching resin with your hands. The more you touch it, the more likely it is that you will become allergic. Now I have to be extra cautious, because I get swollen eyelids if liquid resin touches my face. It’s not a joke. When using resin, it’s vital that you wear the proper protective equipment. Nitrile Gloves are the minimum protection you need to wear when handling uncured Resin. Safety glasses and a respiratory mask will also help keep the toxic fumes at bay.
Can I use regular resin from Michaels to make a resin?
The resin that you may find at Michaels, or in other craft stores, is not the 3D printing material. These resins tend to be two-part systems which chemically bond together when mixed. UV resin cures, as you might have guessed, under UV light. This only happens under certain wavelengths so not all resins work. Use only resins that are specifically labeled 3D printing resins.
What happens if I do not cure the model?
A resin-printed model goes through two stages of curing. The first stage is when the UV light hardens the resin layer inside the printer to create the model. The second is when the model is completed. The model will be coated in resin when it is first removed from the buildplate. It’s best to wear gloves while handling the model. It is important to wash your model with isopropyl, preferably 90% or more. You can then cure the model one last time in a sun or UV chamber. This will harden its outer surface, making it safer to handle.
Can I print a 3D object in resin that’s safe to eat/touch?
No. No. It is not 100% safe for consumption. Making food-safe products out of your resin prints requires you to create a silicone mould and then use it to make resin products.
What are the different types resins?
Although all UV resins work in a similar way, they have different properties. These different properties can help you achieve different outcomes. Standard resins are great for many projects, but they can be quite fragile. Some are very flexible, but they don’t allow for fine detail. They work best for prints that need to be more practical.
