Sandon Global to Set the Standard in Anilox Engineering at Labelexpo Europe 2023

Sandon Global, a leading global label manufacturer will return to Brussels in September 2023 for Labelexpo Europe. The company will showcase its innovative solutions to enhance print quality and ROI of anilox.

The event will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about unique solutions for anilox coating and engraving that can offer superior print quality and anilox durability.

The company will showcase its innovative anilox engravings including FLUID HEX, FLUID UV, HOW (High Opacity White) and GMX ANILOX®, all designed to overcome common narrow web print issues and technical challenges such as ‘ink spitting’ or coatings with large particle deposits. A display screen that is interactive will show the advantages of each anilox cell, allowing visitors to learn more about the available engraving solutions.

The Sandon Global team, in addition to showcasing their award-winning anilox will also be available to discuss how they are well-positioned to bring their unique brand of precision engineered anilox sleeves and rollers even closer to European label and narrow-web market. Sandon Global has opened its new German office in order to remove logistical barriers for trading with the UK. Europe is a strategic market for the company. The company that prides itself in its high level of technical and customer support is now well positioned to provide its European customers with competitive lead times for products and commercial and technical expertise.

Richard Millington, Managing Director, Sandon Global, said, “Since Labelexpo Europe 2019, we’ve made significant investment in the future of anilox engineering with new facilities, people, technology and equipment to support our continued business growth and ensure we stay at the forefront of anilox innovation. We opened our new state-of the-art UK headquarters and brand-new premises earlier this year. These will propel us and anilox into the future. Our 14,500 m2 site houses our world-leading coating R&D facilities, new plasma coating booths, next-generation laser engraving technologies plus a demo print centre for R&D and customer and supplier trials.

The recent investment led to an increase in capacity. We believe that our innovative and high-performance anilox will give converters an edge over their competition, as European printers continue to grow and enjoy a dynamic and competitive market. We can also offer shorter lead times thanks to our new German office, which is backed by local commercial and technical expertise.

We’re focused on delivering precision, quality and product consistency for our customers to ensure repeatability, order after order. Our customers must be able purchase anilox which consistently delivers high-quality outcomes to remain at the top. We’re excited to bring the Sandon Global brand back to Brussels in September.”

Labelexpo Europe is showcasing the following products in 2023:

FLUID HEX is a far from conventional 60º engraving that is suitable for process and solid work on a broad range of substrates and can provide like-for-like engraving specifications to match existing 60º anilox inventories. Its open hexagonal cell design encourages ink flow, the multi-functional engraving design results in strong solids and minimises ‘pin-holing’ and ink ‘spitting’ and offers improved release characteristics leading to clean and optimal print quality. The smooth cell micro-finish reduces doctor blade vibration, and FLUID HEX offers a longer lifespan compared to conventional 60º engravings.

FLUID UV is a semi-channelled 75º combination engraving covering both solid and tone work on one plate. The work one anilox is able to do increases, leading to a reduction in the inventory of aniloxes. Also used for HD print as it holds a dot and minimises ‘pin-holing’ and ink ‘spitting’ through improved release characteristics leading to cleaner print. Due to Sandon’s Global’s unique precision engineering and manufacturing processes, reduced doctor blade vibration is achieved as a smooth cell micro-finish is produced, which in turn extends the lifespan when compared to conventional 60º engravings.

How is a white high-opacity engraving developed to deliver a superior opaque white for narrow web applications. Four different volume levels – for complete anilox control – are available to suit the text and solid density required whilst maintaining flexo press speed and eliminating costly screen heads. Ink reticulation is reduced and ink placement improved, resulting in a white opaque print that rivals rotary screen.

GMX ANILOX® is a patented engraving designed to overcome the challenges faced when laying down special and heavy coatings including tactile and rough texture varnish, adhesive and metallic inks. The engraving is versatile and has an efficient shallow-cell design. It increases coat weights, reduces cell blocking with large coating particles while also being easier to clean. Due to the uniformity in the cell surface, it is possible to reduce blade vibration. Using Sandon Global’s ‘COCAL’ coat weight predictor can also reduce a printer’s annual coatings spend.

Sandon Global is exhibiting in Hall 11 at Labelexpo Europe on Stand D33.
