Tokyo, Aug. 28 (Jiji Press)–Three-dimensional printed homes are attracting attention in Japan as they can be purchased for the price of a car and be built in days.
Serendix Inc. is a startup located in Nishinomiya, in the western Hyogo prefecture. It will sell a 3D printed house for two members of a household for 5.5million yen. The house, which has a total floor area of 50 square meters can be finished in just two days.
Serendix CEO Hiroyasu Koma told reporters that “a world where you could buy a house at the cost of a vehicle is on its way.”
The 3D printed house, called the Barnacle by Serendix, is made up of three rooms including a living and bedroom.
A 3D-printed concrete wall material and steel columns were combined to complete the house in 45 hours. Serendix’s official stated that the home was “strong” and “earthquake resistant”.
